Don't Tear Your Garment
In the olden days, especially during the biblical days; when people are very sad, they showed their grief, desperation and despair by tearing their clothes and putting ashes on their heads. This signified that they were at a dead end and there was nothing else they could do about that particular situation. Their cause of grief could be the death of a loved one, loss of a valuable possession, an impossible circumstance. The tearing of their clothes/garments signified that there was no more hope concerning that situation.
I'm writing this piece this morning to admonish you not to tear your garment. I don't know what you are going through right now, but I'm telling you that there is still hope. You don't have to tear your garment, you don't have to wallow in despair. Whatever the case may be; beloved, there's still hope. Don't lose hope over that situation.
You can't find the solution to that problem in a bottle of wine, a pack of cigarette, in the arms of a lover or in a shot of heroine. There is only one sure solution and that is your creator. He's the only one that can change that situation for your good. He's the only one that can give you beauty for ashes. He's the only one that can give you deep healing for all your deep wounds. He's the only one that won't make you look like what you have been through. He alone can mend your broken heart.
If you turn to him, He will make all things new in your life. He will give rest to your weary soul.
Don't tear your garment, don't wallow in despair, stop mourning; just turn to your creator. He created you and that means He knows exactly what is best for you. Just call on Him, He alone can give you rest. It's only in Him that you can find hope.
I hope you will turn to Him today...
Shalom!!!
